CONTEMPORARY MEDICAL ACUPUNCTURE
Contemporary Medical Acupuncture is a precise peripheral nerve stimulation technique, in which needles are inserted into specific acupuncture points on the body. The practice adheres to the neuroanatomical model of acupuncture and is used within a massage treatment.
Acupuncture treatment is not usually painful. Often patients do not even feel the insertion of the needle. This is mainly because the needles are extremely thin and therefore do not cause the pain sensation often felt with vaccines and blood tests. Very rarely patients feel some discomfort in which case the needle is removed immediately.
What Are The Benefits of Acupuncture Treatments?
Acupuncture needles are often placed in tight muscles and can help release trigger points and spasms. They can also alleviate headaches, back pain, and sore muscles.
If you have never experienced acupuncture, please feel free to ask for a short demonstration from your therapist.
Acupuncture* may be added to a massage therapy treatment for an additional $10.
*Please note that at this time, only Juliana Fernandes may perform acupuncture.
